Karma

I read something really interesting in a blog today....that there was a time in Bali that people didn't need to lock their doors because everyone, well, almost everyone, believes very strongly in the law of karma. If you stole from someone, it would be a negative mark on your own karma while it has no effect on the other person's quality of life. Losing something precious could affect someone's quality of LIVING but zero effect on someone's quality of life. The people back then (I don't know if it is still the same now) just went on living and improving the things and people around them. Honestly speaking, this really enlightened me because where I stay right now, security is such a huge issue. I don't even carry a bag anymore for fear of someone snatching it! Much less lock my doors at night. Indians and the people of Bali strongly believe in Karma, you see and this belief brings about a ray of hope, sense and acceptance.
