Being Kind to Unkind People

I know they say assholes are everywhere and that we should not be vengeful about how people treat us because it brings us down to their level. But MAN, OH MAN, OH MAN. What a friggin' challenge that is.

Buddha, how on earth did you do this?!

Not only did I finally come face to face with someone who discriminated against women (particularly SINGLE MOTHERS), but also someone who was unapologetic about it. He also prides himself as a businessman above all else, instead of...say, being a human being.

LOL

What a challenge.

He probably doesn't like me very much but I did try my best not to react to all the things that he has said to me in the past, and instead, chose the higher road. But he took it as contempt or just me being ignorant and intentionally ignoring him...maybe because of my perceived 'guilt'.

Wow.

Today, I'll post this as a reminder to all of us who face such people in our lives. There's really nothing we can do when we meet them except to try to be kind to them as much as we can.

But this is a real challenge. A challenge unlike any other as a human being.

A Sweet Life

Bad news comes along everyday but last year alone, quite a few bad news struck me. The timing was like a mechanical pendulum. I thought to myself several times that I had enough, that what I needed was a break. A 10 day retreat where I am required to speak to no one, do nothing, listen to silence and nature and just be what I am meant to be.  But real life is not something you can escape for a long period of time. I served my silence....but reality will pendulum-swing back. A friend passed away after being in a coma for a few months. I know both husband and wife and they've always been really positive about handling the toughest of life situations. We may not agree with everything, but we do agree on many. During the time she was unconscious, I prayed every single day. I kid you not.  Her husband would report about her condition, good or bad, and I would either offer thanks or pray for good news and strength. Even during the worst hit moments, I kept the posi...

Feeling a Little Better

After all that fighting with the first week of meds, I finally feel like I am slightly more human and I can even consume food without throwing up anymore! It's a big celebration at the dinner table, it's a big celebration in the room and it's also a big celebration on the inside of me.  Taking care of myself has never been as important as last month when the sickness took over every single aspect of my life, every second of my life, and every ounce of my energy. When you're well, it's OK to fight all the way to planet Pluto and back  because you have it together. But when you're sick, there's nothing more humbling than your body telling you that you absolutely CANNOT.  Being this way has everything to do with being a single mother. Being alone or lonely was never much of an option for me and that has to do with the way I was brought up and the way I grew up. I had to fasttrack a lot of things and many times, when I failed, I had to pick everything u...

Prompt - Describe My Favorite Drink

Favorite drink? Non-alcoholic? Lol. Coffee because of its aroma and it is an added bonus that it wakes me up (before I go-go) and at this point in time, I try to stay away from Starbucks because it ain't cheap and it is basically sugar-in-a-cup, that stuff. I am continually in love with my three-in-one, yes, boring but faithful. And everyone should be in love with coffee, in my personal opinion. But that is just me. XOXO Marsha
