Hugging As A Pain Relief

The wonderful effects of hugging is exponential. It's like a pain relief, and a way to reconnect or connect with another human being.

That's why it is a must for me to hug my kids everyday. People can say anything that they want to say about me as a parent because it is their right. But I will never stop showing my kids affection.

A part of me also acknowledges the fact that one day they might, they MIGHT, not need as many hugs from me anymore. They would have other 'people' in their lives to provide the comfort.

So, I would rather claim my fair share of hugs now than feel the regret of never having hugged my kids more later on in life.

Hugging is therapeutic. I hope we all do it more.

A Sweet Life

Bad news comes along everyday but last year alone, quite a few bad news struck me. The timing was like a mechanical pendulum. I thought to myself several times that I had enough, that what I needed was a break. A 10 day retreat where I am required to speak to no one, do nothing, listen to silence and nature and just be what I am meant to be.  But real life is not something you can escape for a long period of time. I served my silence....but reality will pendulum-swing back. A friend passed away after being in a coma for a few months. I know both husband and wife and they've always been really positive about handling the toughest of life situations. We may not agree with everything, but we do agree on many. During the time she was unconscious, I prayed every single day. I kid you not.  Her husband would report about her condition, good or bad, and I would either offer thanks or pray for good news and strength. Even during the worst hit moments, I kept the posi...

Feeling a Little Better

After all that fighting with the first week of meds, I finally feel like I am slightly more human and I can even consume food without throwing up anymore! It's a big celebration at the dinner table, it's a big celebration in the room and it's also a big celebration on the inside of me.  Taking care of myself has never been as important as last month when the sickness took over every single aspect of my life, every second of my life, and every ounce of my energy. When you're well, it's OK to fight all the way to planet Pluto and back  because you have it together. But when you're sick, there's nothing more humbling than your body telling you that you absolutely CANNOT.  Being this way has everything to do with being a single mother. Being alone or lonely was never much of an option for me and that has to do with the way I was brought up and the way I grew up. I had to fasttrack a lot of things and many times, when I failed, I had to pick everything u...

Prompt - Describe My Favorite Drink

Favorite drink? Non-alcoholic? Lol. Coffee because of its aroma and it is an added bonus that it wakes me up (before I go-go) and at this point in time, I try to stay away from Starbucks because it ain't cheap and it is basically sugar-in-a-cup, that stuff. I am continually in love with my three-in-one, yes, boring but faithful. And everyone should be in love with coffee, in my personal opinion. But that is just me. XOXO Marsha
